School Time

We started school a couple of weeks ago and it has taken me that long to get back into the swing of things. No more 9am wake up times, or free spirited days of doing whatever we wanted to do for that day. Nope its back to a schedule. Which I am seeming to make sound bad, which in reality I actually love. I like to know what comes next. That seems to fit me best. With that said, the beginning of school this year was a bit overwhelming. Our materials did not come in when I anticipated, so I had to pull out last years things. I had planned on having everything placed in our fancy agendas (thank you Erica, confessions of a homeschooler…you should go check it, I believe they are still free to download) Well needless to say that did not  happen...

End of summer 2013

The end of summer is always a bitter sweet one. I love being able to stay up late and not worry about what time we wake up in the mornings. Lots of lazy days with some fun scheduled activities mixed in there. There is something very exciting about starting a new year of school though.  This summer has been exceptionally busy with lots of trips that were not only planned but executed. I can’t tell you how many summers I plan, plan, plan and then life happens and things don’t work out.

We enjoyed Hume Lake for a week, Phoenix with some of our favorite people, and a weekend at the beach. We also got to witness our oldest Taylor, get baptized.  Lots of day trips as well, but these were our planned and followed through trips.  I have to admit, this summer has been our best so far.

I’m back

So after a much needed social media break, I am back! Oh it feels so good to be writing , sharing, and communicating with my friends again. God has been working in my heart so much over this last year, and even though I wasn’t completely gone from social media, I was far enough away to be able to hear Him a little more clearly.

What do you think of my new website? Isn’t it fancy? My awesome brother in law designed and revamped it. It is so much more user friendly. There are still some things we are working on, but I can’t thank him enough for providing a professional blog for me…..{{HUGS}} Ryan!

So I am going to try and catch you up with a few things that have been going on in the Caracciolo household since last summer.

Yesterday was our first day back from our loooong Christmas Break. Amazing something like 25 days off! Over the break I was trying to come up with a way to stay at our current school CAVA but yet changing some things up to better fit our family. The kids get a list of work to do each day and we have been following their work that way. The problem that I was facing is that I was not able to be prepared for what they were doing each day because of all the different subjects. So a friend recommended block scheduling like some schools actually do. It sounded exciting and the change that I was looking for. So I began by mapping out the amount of assignments they have until the end of the year...

A year in review

I can’t believe another year has flown by. My chitlins are getting older by the second which means I too am getting that much older! AH!! Where’s the wrinkle cream?! This year has been quite the roller coaster. Things that have changed our lives possibly forever have taken place. Many being good. So I wanted to take a moment to share with you what our 2011 looked like!

We started the year off as normal…soccer. Little T’s team season team made it to playoffs then advanced to Bakersfield. Big deal for our small community!

February~                                                                                                                                                    ...

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Homeschooling can be quite a bit of a challenge. Now when you add in a little Monkey….it becomes more than a challenge. It becomes almost impossible.

Not even sure where she found some of these things….

 Every corner I turned I found a new mess….

Yes this cute little thing made all these messes!

Not to mention she is sitting on my coffee table…not allowed, eating crackers in the living room….not allowed, and giggling about it all……okay that one is allowed!

I have told Noah that I would love to have two more children…….HOWEVER after trying to home school the three kids and then trying to entertain a toddler at the same time….I think I’m GOOD!

Giving Thanks~ Day 15

Halfway through the month of November already?! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Today I am thankful for the mini Thanksgiving feast that the kids and I got to enjoy with new friends. I joined a homeschooling group through my church and attended my very first event with them today.

I got to spend some time with the host before the event started, only because I thought it started two hours earlier than it really did! I loved getting her knowledge on homeschooling. I felt blessed to have learned different ways and ideas of how it can work.

The kids got to learn about the first Thanksgiving and make some neat little crafts! We enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, ham and my favorite, cake pops for dessert! What a wonderful way to fellowship and learn more about...

Grateful for Homeschooling

I am so excited to share my thankfulness for today. It is homeschooling. I came into this adventure kicking and screaming, literally. I remember the day so well, driving home with Noah and telling ranting at him about how I felt the Holy Spirit leading me into this and how I wasn’t good enough and  how my life would forever change! He just smiled and said “I think that is a great idea!”  WHAAAAT! Was my only response. Shouldn’t he be telling me things like no you need to keep them in school, or at least say something like…”That’s crazy!”

Nope! Not my Noah. The most calm, cool, collected person I know. Always on the positive, always listening to God and obeying!

Well here we are two months into our homeschooling venture and I am so grateful...

Giving Thanks~ Day 7

I am so happy for new beginnings. Aren’t you?! I am so grateful for God’s Grace and forgiveness it sometimes overwhelms me. This morning I woke up feeling a little defeated. Yesterday my husband asked me to go around our neighborhood and invite more people to our church. We had just came back from our nearest grocery store. Now for locals they know what it is like on a Sunday afternoon at the Stater Bros. I am ashamed of saying this but I do everything in my power to not go there especially after 10 am. Well we had to stop there and my grace for them was non existent and that carried over once we got home. So when I woke up I was clearly reminded of not being obedient to the Lord yesterday. Not only with my crummy attitude but with the laziness of not going out to share the good news.
I am...

First Field Trip

We got to celebrate our very first field trip together as a homeschooling family together. It was very neat being able to go with all three of my children and my husband verses the traditional school field trip.

It was only one child’s trip and I could go only sometimes depending on how fast I signed up, and dad’s? Well it just didn’t happen. We also had my niece…that is the cute little blondie with us!

We went to Boulder Creek Ranch, and I am not sure how long it has been there, but it was a cute little place. Tucked away in our desert, hidden in the hills of Hesperia.

We went on a tractor ride to see the farm. 100 acres for horses, pigs, chicken, goats, and much more. There is even a place for events. It made you feel as if you were out of the desert...
